Karaka School is situated in a beautiful tree studded rural location on the Pukekohe Highway (State Highway 22).  The school is located 4km from the Southern Motorways Drury off ramp and is 8km travelling from Pukekohe.

Karaka School prides itself on being a community of learners who work collaboratively to provide high quality teaching and learning programmes and additional opportunities, taking a holistic approach to education. In doing so we provide for the diverse learning requirements of all our students while promoting equity and excellence for all.

Our school vision, values and underpinning whakatauki (proverb) has created a strongly inclusive school culture. Students at Karaka School experience a sense of belonging and pride in their  school.

All class environments are engaging and visible learning pathways are evident throughout. This enables students to confidently manage their own learning, identifying their strengths and next learning steps. Ongoing teacher inquiry ensures that our teaching and learning programmes remain relevant and aligned to current best practice approaches.

Our school actively promotes educational partnerships, which welcomes and encourages the involvement of parents and whanau in the learning.  Active participation in activities such as our 3 way conferences, our extensive outdoor education programmes, Learning Enrichment Options (LEO) and Discovery programmes, sports, committees and our annual agricultural day is evidence of this.

The  school’s strategic direction continues the strong emphasis on delivering a well balanced curriculum, endeavouring to develop in the children the knowledge, attitudes, skills and competencies that will enable them to reach their full potential.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
