Like many schools, Karaka School has an Agricultural Day (sometimes called Calf Club Day). This has been the show case of our school since the 1920s. Children are given the opportunity over preceding months to rear, train and prepare calves, lambs, kid goats, horses and chickens for a range of competitions held at AG Day. To ensure that all children have the chance to be involved there are also horticultural activities and a number of other activities and events. These usually include indoor art and craft and handwork themes, and stalls.
AG day is a great family day with involvement of all family members encouraged and welcomed.
AGRICULTURAL DAY 2021
This year’s Ag Day date had been set for September 25th. Unfortunately due to COVID19 Ag Day 2021 has had to be postponed. It will no longer take place on September 25th.
Ag Day can only take place once we reach Alert Level 2 (allowing gatherings of 100) OR Alert Level 2.5 (allowing gatherings of 10) like last year’s Ag Day.
Ag Day this year will focus on the children and their animal or project.
There will be no major fundraising done with the Auction, selling of food or activities.
Once we have greater clarity around the Alert Levels we will confirm how this years Ag Day will look. Ag day will be held either in the last week of this Term or the second week of Term 4 depending on the Alert Levels.
Unfortunately due to COVID19 alert levels, Ag Day has been CANCELLED for 2021.
A virtual Ag Day will take place with students creating a video or pictures of them with their animal or project. No trophies will be given out this year. Points will be awarded to those that send in their entry online and merit badges will also be awarded.
AG DAY ENTRY FORMS ARE DUE BACK NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 6TH AUGUST.
Please note that EVERY child should be either entering an animal or completing one of the projects.
EVERY child must hand in an entry form. These are due back to the Office on Friday 6th August.
